Mrs. Verna Dazey, 81, of Wingate, died Friday evening (Dec. 28, 1973) at her home. Born May 10, 1892, in Fountain County, she was a daughter of William and Miriam Durham Rodgers. She married Charlie Dazey of Wingate Dec. 22, 1909. He died in September 1967. Survivors include two sons, Virgil and Robert, both of Wingate; three daughters, Mrs. Lois DeJardin, Mrs. Kathryn Breaks and Mrs. Patricia Bane, all of Wingate; two brothers, Russell Rodgers of Oakwood, Ill., and Harry Rodgers of New Market; a sister Mrs. Bernice Alward of Kingman Route 1; 10 grandchildren, including Mrs. Carolyn Wilson, who was reared by Mrs. Dazey; two step-grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a great granddaughter, three sisters and four brothers. She was a member of the Wingate United Methodist Church. Services at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. Thomas True and the Rev. Homer Hunsinger officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Wingate. - jlr

Wingate – Mrs. Verna Dazey 81 of Wingate died at 9:30 p.m. Friday in her home, apparently of a heart attack. A native of Fountain County she was married in 1909 to Charlie Dazey n Wingate. He died in 1967.  Mrs. Dazey was a memer of the Wingate United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Virgil and Robert, both of Wingate; three daughters, Mrs. Lois DeJardin, Mrs. Kathryn Breaks and mrs. Patricia Bane, all of Wingate; two brothers, Russell Rodgers of Oakwood, Ill; Harry Rogers of New Market; a sister. Mrs. Bernice Alward of Rt 1, Ingman and a granddaughter whom she reared, Mrs. Carolyn Wilson.
